RENEW opposes WPS’ proposed green-pricing increase and asks for small-wind tariff
August 21, 2010 | Leave a Comment
From the testimony of Michael Vickerman in opposition to the request of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation to increase the cost of renewable energy purchased by customers in the NatureWise green-pricing program:
The purpose of my testimony is threefold: (1) to discuss how basing buyback rates on locational marginal pricing (LMP’s) penalizes low-risk renewable energy sources; (2) to encourage Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (WPS), with the support of the Commission, to establish a net energy billing tariff for small wind energy systems up to 100 kilowatts and (3) to urge the Commission to hold WPS’s NatureWise premium at 1.25 cents/kWh.

Company is a major player on the Colorado energy scene; feds levied $5 million fine against BP for under-reporting production on SW Colorado tribal lands
By Summit Voice
SUMMIT COUNTY — Along with its huge oil-spill mess in the Gulf of Mexico, BP has become a significant player in Colorado wind power. In May, the company’s Houston-based wind energy subsidiary announced that it reached a long-term power purchase agreement with Public Service Company of Colorado, an Xcel Energy company.
The Cedar Creek II wind farm will be located on 30,000 acres about 20 miles north of New Raymer, in Weld County and east of the existing 300.5 MW Cedar Creek I wind farm. BP expects that 250 workers will be employed during construction of the wind farm and an estimated 12-14 jobs will be created to monitor and maintain the facility once it is in full commercial operation. Ancient Winds
July 10, 2010 | Leave a Comment
I decided to produce this short video after having done one on how oil production is polluting our planet. Most recently, the blowup in the Gulf of Mexico further supported the notion that there may be some real doubts about the cost/benefit of producing energy mainly from oil.
This video intends to show how in ancient times mankind used wind for power and energy, while minimally impacting the environment. With all the new technology and knowhow at our disposal, we need to use this avenue as much as possible, since it’s clean, renewable, cost effective and persistent.
