Unintended Consequences; Is This the Light Bulb of the Future?

Sep 24, 2009 – Eric A. Taub reports in The New York Times, “Is This The Light Bulb of the Future?”  The light bulb being discussed is an LED, not a CFL.  What are the unintended consequences of the CFLs we have been installing in our houses?  [You have been installing them, haven’t you?]  Taub reports that “Consumers rebelled when they found the light output from CFL bulbs to be cold and unpleasant, with much shorter-than-claimed lifetimes, and the potential to pollute due to the mercury in each lamp.”  What has been your experience?  It takes about 30-60 seconds to get full light, but then it is OK.  Read the whole article in the Times for information about LEDs.
